1st article: The location of my toursite is from Bali. My toursite is about one of the temples in Bali. It is Tanah Lot.
Tanah Lot is derived from the words “Tanah” meaning a rock or land, while “Lot” or “Lod” means south or the sea. Therefore Tanah Lot means the Rock by the Sea. The temples of Tanah Lot were said to have been built in the 16th century by the Hindu priest Bawu Rawuh (Danghyang Nirartha) who came from the kingdom of Majapahit in East Java, and travelled to Bali to spread the Hindu religion. Arriving at this spot he was inspired by the sacredness of the place and advised his followers to build the temples at this location.
On its northern side are two Balinese temples built on an overhanging cliff which connects the small island to the shore. Underneath the rock are caves that have sea snakes. It's believed to be the guardians of the temples.
The Tanah Lot temples form an inseparable part of the Dang Kahyangan temples, the six most holy temples on Bali, but here Hindus pray to the god of the sea.
On the west side of the rock is a spring which the Hindus believe to be holy water and the reason why the temples were built on this rock.
I chose this article because it is a very interesting plac to be because of the temples and because it is old and there are sea snakes that are believed to be guardians of the temples.
2nd article: My 2nd toursite is from Central Maluku. This toursite is a beach. This beach is called Ora beach.
Indonesia is home to beautiful beaches and one of these beaches is Ora Beach. Ora beach is on the North Coast of Seram Island. Seram island is most famous for its abundant bird life. Of 117 species found on the island, 14 are common on Seram.
I chose this article because I like beaches and Ora beach sounds a good relaxing place to be on a vacation or holiday.
3rd article: My final toursite is from Jogjakarta. It is a famous Buddhist temple. It is Borobudur!
The magnificent Borobudur temple is the world’s biggest Buddhist monument. It's built in the 9th century. The temple has remained strong even through after ten centuries it wasn't used with care. It was rediscovered in 1815, buried under volcanic ash. In the 1970’s the Indonesian Government and UNESCO worked together to restore Borobudur. The restoration took eight years to complete and today Borobudur is one of Indonesia's and the world’s most valuable treasures.
The monument is a shrine to the Lord Buddha and a place for Buddhist believers. The ten levels of the temple symbolize the three divisions of the religion’s cosmic system. As visitors begin their journey at the base of the temple, they make their way to the top of the monument through the three levels of Budhist cosmology. It is Kamadhatu (the world of desire), Rupadhatu (the world of forms) and Arupadhatu (the world of formlessness).
I chose Borobudur because Borobudur is very famous in Indonesia and because it is amazing that Borobudur hasn't fallen down after it did many times.
